SEAL 3 Challenge:  Famine / hyperinflation   Day 3 - Food

The Third Seal—Rider on Black Horse – Famine

Revelation 6:5-6  "When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come!” I looked, and behold, a black horse, and the one who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine.”

Sign 3 from Matthew 24 “and in various places there will be famines .."

Day 3   Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.  God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so.  The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.  There was evening and there was morning, a third day. Genesis 1:9-13

Seal 3 -Famine, Sign 3 -Famine, Day 3 -Food Created. Day 3 of Creation reminds us that all our needs are met by God. He is the creator and supplier of food.

God has set the PATTERN from the beginning of Creation.  Each of the 7 days of creation presents a “Theme” and a clue to God's End of the Age path. We see this “theme” repeated in the 7 Seals and in a number of the  other “7”s in the Bible.  See THE 7s of GOD'S PLAN for more.

Revelation starts with 7 letters to 7 churches. These 7 letters also keep the “themes” and are the Believers instructions for “overcoming” each of the seal challenges of the End Times.

Church 3   “And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: The One who has the sharp two-edged sword says this ‘I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is; and you hold fast My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality……. Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth.  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.’ Revelation 2:12-17

Day 3 of Creation is all about Food. God creates food on Day 3. One of the biggest tests of the End times will be over food. Seal 3 brings a world wide lack of food. At some point during these 7 years Antichrist will cut off the ability to “buy or sell” unless you make the eternal mistake of taking his “mark”. Rev 13:16-17   Those who take the mark can not be saved, but will have their part in the Lake of Fire. Rev 14:9-10

Third only to air and water, man needs food daily. Israel, under Moses’ leadership faced this need in the desert. They grumbled and died for lack of trusting God for their need. Yet God generously supplies all of our needs.

The deadly temptation in those days will be to compromise your trust in God by “worshiping” at Satan's table for food as Pergamum did.  In the days of Balaam Israel made this same tragic mistake. The result was suffering and death for many.

How can you “Survive”?

Answer :  It is all about the “Bread of Life”

Jesus faced the same challenge for 40 days in the desert but passed the test, telling the Tempter that “man does not live by bread alone, but by every word from God's mouth.”

Moses notes in Deuteronomy 8:3 “And He humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.”

Church 3,  Jesus wields a double edged sword which speaks of Judgment and The Word of God. Some in Pergamum were dining with demons by seeking food from idols. They are warned away from compromise and are promised “Hidden Manna”, God's supernatural provision. Just as God fed Israel in the desert He is more than able to feed you in that day. The White Stone is understood to be your “ticket” to the Banquet of the Lord in the Kingdom. Your name is on it as a personal invitation from God. Is this why the devil temps Jesus to turn a stone into bread? Wait for the White Stone. So “Seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness and He will see you through…”     (see also Matthew 6:25-34; Philippians 4:11-13)

Pray the 7 parts of the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. Note how each part contains and applies the Theme for each Seal.

3.  "Give us this day our daily bread" Famine    Matthew 6:31-33   "Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ ...your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you."  Philippians 4:11-13  "I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances. I am accustomed to any and every situation—to being filled and being hungry, to having plenty and having need. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."

Dear Heavenly Dad, You have been faithful as our Father. You have given to us all things through Christ Jesus our Lord. Thank You for the "Hidden Manna" that we need in our hunger and thirst. We choose to trust You and to seek Your provision for us as the World pressures us to sit at it's table of compromise. Give us that food to eat that the World knows nothing about. Thank You for Your generous and mighty hand and the Sword of the Word that directs us to You.

Each Millenia Holds to the Themes of each "Day"

3rd Millennium - God Provides Land/Food/Word

Abraham is born at the beginning of the third Millennium. He and Sarah represent God's "impossible" provision.

God calls Abraham to leave his home and to live in a LAND that will be his own. God makes a "Big Deal" about this land repeating His promise over and again. This 'promised land' was "occupied" by 7 pagan nations but was to be REDEEMED by God and given as a "FOREVER" possession to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Israel) and their descendants. Each of these three generations is given the same repeated Promise. Genesis 17:8; 26:3-4; 28:13

Jacob and his generation are lead out of the Promised Land into Egypt were they are eventually enslaved. Half way through the 3rd Millennium God raises up Moses to lead Israel out of bondage and into the Land of "MILK AND HONEY". This land is described as ... "a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills;  a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey;  a land where you will eat food without scarcity, in which you will not lack anything;" Deut 8:7-9a

Even in their Wilderness Wanderings Israel's attention is placed on food and on God's ability and willingness to provide for His Children. Quail and Manna rain down from heaven. Manna was supernatural Bread from Heaven. Water comes out of rocks. And the lesson is taught that ...'"Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

God leads Moses and all Israel to the foot of Mount Sinai where God joins Himself to them by covenant. He gives Israel His WORD in 10 commandments and many other instructions. His living Word is the avenue that invites them to KNOW their God.  More important then 'bread' is the Living Bread that comes down from Heaven to feed our soul. Later Jesus uses this same illustration during the Lords Supper.  Luke 22:19

With the 3rd Millennium and its focus on abundant provision, we see clearly that all of this and all of our needs come from God. He is our Provider. He leads us out of slavery, out of dry and thirsty places and into His Land of Blessing.

The Lord knows the days of the blameless, And their inheritance will be forever.

They will not be ashamed in the time of evil, And in the days of famine they will have abundance.

Psalm 37:18-19

EXTRA CREDIT:  The Biblical Meaning of the Number 3

The number 3 in Scripture often speaks to "Fullness" or "Wholeness". Think of the many "Trios" from the Trinity of God, Father, Son, Spirit to Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego. Jesus' inner circle, James, Peter and John. The founding Fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Jesus was proved to be "fully" dead being in the grave 3 days and 3 nights. Peter is fully tested, dening Jesus 3 times and is restored by Jesus with 3 fold question of his love for Jesus. Man is a 3 fold being, body, soul and spirit. We live in a 3 dimensional universe consisting of Time, Space and Matter. Thus the 3rd Day of Creation finds God's FULL provision for us foreshadowed.
